I was wondering what size everyone's Shibas are. My boy is very big. He is 40 lbs, and while he could probably lose a couple of pounds, he'd be quite thin at 35 lbs.
My girl is 35 lbs and is a thin little thing who runs around like crazy.
Obviously, they are WAY bigger than AKC standards...and while Bel is not particularly well bred, Toby is from really good lines, and the breeder was quite surprised at how big he grew to be. (though he was the only pet quality pup she had out of that litter, so she probably suspected he was going to be a big boy). And just for kicks, I just measured Toby: he's 20.5 inches at the withers. (and I often joke that Toby is trying to win the title of world's largest Shiba, which means he wants to eat a lot and conserve energy so he gets bigger and bigger!)
So I became curious....do most Shiba really fit into the AKC Standard? (About 23 pounds for males, 17 for females, and the link to the AKC standard is here: http://www.akc.org/breeds/shiba_inu/
