Before I got my Shiba, Tali, I did a whole lot of reading on training and just Shiba's personalities in general. I knew that a Shiba was definitely going to be a handful and I was up for the challenge. I was just curious though, have other people felt that everything they've read about the Shiba breed and their personalities just doesn't match with your shiba at all? Like I read about Shiba's being generally quiet and being much like a cat and not really caring for human affection. Tali is the total opposite, she's always in your face for attention and if she's feeling ignored for too long, she'll start with the vocals - barking, yodeling, whistling you name it. She really does seek us for attention and in spite of how intelligent her breed is, she has done some quirky things haha just recently watched her have a staredown with her reflection on a store window on her last walk. It was kind of precious how excited she got.
She's also waaaay too friendly, she is willing to sniff any other dog or person no matter how scary they look and I have to keep her from trying to "make friends" with the big scary pitbull pulling it's owner down the street. And yet, the other day she met a family member's new kitten and was totally on a standoff with it - smaller than her and yet the little kitty was chasing Tali around the house and Tali running off only to bark safely at it in the distance. I think her sense of danger is a little backwards haha. Big scary dog, "Hi Buddy," versus cute little kitten, "ACK back! Back!"
Anyway, anyone else have Shibas that are completely different from what you've read/researched?
